Community groups and outreach
We have developed our landscape and arts programmes to include community group projects and outreach.
This can take place in the community or through a visit programme to Chatsworth. If you are interested in finding out more, or would like to book a community session, please contact us.
Examples of who we've worked with
Our landscape programme includes Still Waters Dementia Café in Buxton, Age UK Derby and Derbyshire groups and New Beginnings, a Sheffield based charity supporting refugees and asylum seekers.
Our arts programme has included partnerships with the Radford Dementia Care Group and Oasis Breast Cancer Group.
What we offer
Community visits can include a tour in the house or garden. Practical activities, such as making bouquets, seed collecting or art workshops, can also be included.
Workshop and tour content is tailored to the needs of the group, ensuring that the experience creates connections between Chatsworth and participants’ lives.
How long does a visit usually last?
Our community sessions usually last for two to three hours and include breaks for tea and cake or lunch. However, visits can also last the full day if desired.
What are the benefits of visiting?
- Enjoyment, feeling safe and having fun
- Socialising in a relaxed setting
- Creating a sense of belonging
- Felling valued
- Mental health and wellbeing
Our facilities and accessibility
The Stickyard (outdoor learning centre) is an enclosed space, making it a very peaceful place to enjoy the view and relax. For those who find walking long distances and challenge, and for wheel chair users, it is possible for a mini bus to park outside the Stickyard.
Travel subsidy
As a registered charity, Chatsworth House Trust (CHT) has a commitment to its charitable objectives which includes offering a wide variety of learning opportunities for both children and adults. To facilitate this, CHT has an access and participation fund that can be made available to groups who can demonstrate they fulfil certain criteria.
