With so many things to do for kids young and old, Chatsworth Farmyard and Adventure Playground makes for a fun day out for all the family.

In the farmyard you'll meet our friendly animals, from chicks, piglets and horses to our mischievous lambs, goats and guinea pigs. We're also delighted to be home to a number of rare breeds including Suffolk Punch horses, Shire horses, Albion cattle, Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs (with piglets due at the end of January!), golden Guernsey goats and marsh daisy chickens.

Take a ride on our tractor trailer through Stand Wood (small fee applies), everyone is welcome.

From the farmyard, take the secret tunnel to the children's playground. Fetch water from the stream using the Archimedes screw, and enjoy the huge sand play area (pack wellies and waterproofs!)

Daily Activities

Please note that all events within or beginning in the farmyard require visitors to have paid admission. All activities are subject to cancellation due to weather or circumstances beyond our control.

Accessibility and SEN

The farmyard and playground entrance is located at the top of the main house car park and is accessible by a paved walkway that is on a slight incline. We have installed induction loops at the farmyard entrance and welcome assistance dogs to both the farmyard and playground.

Farmyard
The farmyard is situated on two levels that are accessible by a lift. The paddocks, bird hide and picnic area are accessible via a gently sloping footpath.

An accessible toilet and toilet with a baby change facility are available in the farmyard near the entrance.

Playground
The playground and two towers are approached by accessible footpaths, please note that the playground is on a hill above the farmyard.

Within the towers are two activity boards including a spinning pairs game and an activity board that celebrates the importance of bees to our environment, this includes braille dominoes and other stimulus for visually impaired visitors.
